The Vehicle Maintenance Technician II performs preventive maintenance inspections (PMI), failure analysis and troubleshooting on buses, trucks, vans, heavy equipment and snowcats to ensure maximum safe vehicle availability for Copper Mountain Resort.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Perform PMIs and the resulting repairs in accordance with Powdr Copper Mountain’s Vehicle Maintenance guidelines.
- Troubleshoot, analyze, repair, design, modify and complete failure analysis on fleet vehicles including buses, trucks, vans and snowcats.
- Operate all fleet vehicles to evaluate the results of previous maintenance.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area to provide a safe environment.
- Obtain and maintain a B‑class Commercial Driver’s License with air brakes and a P2 endorsement.
- Manage inventory, repair and clean‑up of tires, paint & body, welding, fuel inventory, lubricants & hazardous materials, general shop equipment, and hydraulics.
- Accurately record daily activities on work orders, indirect labor logs, and parts requisition.
- Consult manuals, trade publications, trade associations, vendors, schools and training programs to stay updated on new maintenance technologies.
- Communicate with fellow Vehicle Maintenance employees, operating department personnel, and outside vendors as required.
- Serve as an ambassador of Copper Mountain, modeling the company culture with guests and employees.
- Five to seven years of experience in vehicle maintenance or three to five years with a certificate from an Automotive Diesel Technology School and a minimum of 1,000 clock hours.
- Tools to perform major preventive maintenance repairs on all fleet vehicles, excluding specialty tools.
- Basic welding experience.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, hydrostatic drive systems, hydraulic systems, light truck and van computer systems (emissions, airbags, ABS), and gas and diesel engine systems.
- Strong communication skills to train co‑workers.
- Capability to run day‑to‑day shop operations in the absence of foremen and managers.
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Work outside in all weather conditions.
- Valid US Driver’s license and at least 18 years old.
- Well‑rounded set of tools, including a bottom rollaway box for major PMIs and repairs.
- Flexible with days and hours of work, including 10‑hour shifts and outdoor work in inclement weather.
- Two to five years in vehicle maintenance or one to three years with a certificate from an Auto/Diesel Technology School (minimum 1,000 clock hours).
- Knowledge in hydraulics, electrical systems, gas and diesel engine systems, computerized engine control systems, drivetrain, chassis, body repair, basic welding, fuel systems, air systems, and schematic drawings.
- Ability to operate all types of equipment that may be worked on.
- Obtain a Commercial Driver’s License within six to twelve months of date of hire.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Accurate verbal and written communication skills.
- Understand and read/write English for documentation.
