General Summary
The Field Service Technician is a mechanic responsible for troubleshooting and repairing fleet vehicles (including pickups, semis, and heavy equipment), water well construction equipment, drilling equipment, and pump installation units. Experience in diesel mechanics, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems is preferred. Travel is required.
Essential Job Accountabilities- Service trucks and equipment to meet field requirements
- Operate equipment and tools involved in shop and field repairs
- Work in a team environment to maintain a coordinated effort aligned with business needs
- Troubleshoot and repair various electrical assemblies
- Rebuild, replace or repair drill rigs parts and ancillary equipment
- Assign priority and process repair work orders
- Evaluate and recommend all repairs with cost estimates
- Assist in completion of all repairs
- Assist in shop fabrication and assembly operations
- Locate and requisition parts for repairs
- Understand and implement laws and regulations on transportation and safety
- Keep shop, equipment and tools in safe operating condition
- Maintain accurate information for payroll reporting
- Out of town travel will be required, up to 2 weeks at a time; travel costs are covered and per diem provided
High School Diploma, GED or equivalent years of experience.
Certification- Must have a valid driver’s license, Class B CDL.
- Must be qualified per the FMCSA to perform annual DOT inspections.
- Forklift, crane, and welding certifications are a plus.
Minimum 1 year of travel mechanic experience.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems
- Ability to work irregular hours and respond to after-hours emergency calls as needed
- Previous drilling experience and knowledge of the work industry are a plus
- Strong organizational skills

- Employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
- Employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate small hand tools.
- Employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally team lift and/or move over 50 lbs.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
