Job Description:
Our energy client is seeking a self-motivated Engineering Technician III to join their fleet team in Colorado. In this field-based role, you will independently install, configure, and troubleshoot Motorola and other third-party mobile radio equipment across a diverse fleet of corporate vehicles.
This is a highly autonomous, individual contributor position requiring a strong blend of 12V/24V automotive electrical skills, mechanical aptitude, and customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Equipment Installation: Install mobile radios, antennas, and power wiring into a wide variety of fleet vehicles.
- System Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair hardware, wiring, and connectivity issues as technical proficiency develops.
- Vehicle Interior Modification: Safely disassemble and reassemble vehicle dashboards, trim, and interior panels to route wiring cleanly and professionally.
- Ticket Management: Independently manage daily work assignments, update job statuses, and document completed tasks using the Service Now ticketing system.
- Field Travel: Travel daily to various client service centers and field locations throughout the state of Colorado.
- Automotive Electrical
Experience:
Hands-on proficiency with 12V/24V DC electrical systems, wiring schematics, and automotive electronics. - Mechanical Aptitude: Experience safely using hand tools, power tools, and removing/replacing vehicle interior trim without causing damage.
- Valid Driver’s License: Must possess a clean, valid driver’s license to operate a company-provided field vehicle.
- Communication
Skills:
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills to coordinate effectively with dispatchers, shop leads, and vehicle operators. - Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel extensively statewide and spend the first several weeks out of state for initial training.

- Emergency vehicle upfitters (police, fire, ambulance apparatus builders)
- Radio service shop technicians (e.g., Motorola, Bear Com, Day Wireless)
- Automotive mechanics or car stereo/mobile electronics installers (e.g., Best Buy Geek Squad)
- Schedule: Standard 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, typically 7:30 AM to 4:00/4:30 PM. Overtime available upon approval.
- Tools & Assets: Client provides a dedicated company vehicle, laptop, and all required installation tools.
- Work Environment: Primarily based in indoor fleet garages, with occasional outdoor work. High-visibility PPE, steel-toe boots, safety glasses, and hard hats are strictly required and provided.
