University Counselor (Part-Time)

Part‑time position primarily responsible for supporting the mental health and well‑being of the Mines student body through high‑quality clinical, consultation, and educational services.

Schedule:

24hours per week, 3 days per week, 8hours per day. Hybrid environment – on‑campus presence required at least twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays, 8AM‑5PM; Tuesdays 8AM‑5PM remote).

Responsibilities
  • Direct Service: Maintain an individual clinical caseload, perform intake assessments, single sessions, brief therapy, crisis stabilization; refer students to local providers or other resources; document electronically per professional and department standards.
  • Consultation: Provide support to parents, faculty, staff, and key departments in Student Life and Academic divisions; assist with understanding of student needs and treatment planning.
  • Outreach (workshops/groups): Offer alternate service platforms on mental health topics and specific program topics; participate in seminars, workshops, drop‑in hours, support groups; use technology to provide psycho educational services.
  • Crisis Intervention: Provide walk‑in crisis intervention; coordinate with administrators, care providers, hospitals, and other entities for crisis planning, resolution, and care coordination.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in psychology, counseling, social work, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Licensed to practice in the state of Colorado.
  • Significant, progressive experience in the mental health field with expertise in clinical assessment, counseling, triage, and crisis intervention.
  • Experience working with diverse identities and needs; comfort with crisis management, trauma, and varying levels of student severity in a high‑pressure college environment.
  • Ability to address issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, neurodiversity, bereavement, substance abuse, eating disorders, suicide risk, family/relationship issues, identity issues, and self‑injury.
  • Proficiency in multiple treatment modalities (CBT, DBT, ACT, SFBT, IFS, somatic therapy).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in higher education, stepped‑care or comparable short‑term/multi‑faceted treatment models.
  • Experience with psycho educational service delivery and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Salary and Benefits
  • Full‑time salary range: $69,166 – $73,333.
  • 60% FTE (part‑time) rate: $41,500 – $44,000.
