Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Web Services Lead Software Engineer to develop and oversee our core SAAS platform. This role is pivotal in maintaining and evolving our web services infrastructure, interpreting regulatory specifications (such as DOT standards), and leading a team of developers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, automation tools, and full‑stack development, with expertise in integrating adjacent systems like video transport, traffic management, and geospatial mapping.

- Develop and maintain the WANCO SAAS platform using AWS cloud services, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
- Lead the web services team, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and mentorship to junior developers.
- Manage team’s daily tasks through Jira.
- Interpret Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). and convert them into actionable software requirements and features.
- Develop and optimize front‑end interfaces using React
JS and back‑end services with Ruby and other relevant technologies. - Implement automation pipelines with Ansible for configuration management and Jenkins for CI/CD workflows.
- Integrate adjacent competencies including video transport protocols (e.g., RTSP, HLS for live streaming), traffic management systems, WZDX (Work Zone Data Exchange) standards for data sharing, GIS mapping tools integrations for device management, and Waze API for real‑time traffic data and navigation enhancements.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to design, test, and deploy new features, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production environments.
- Stay current with emerging technologies in fleet management, transportation tech, and cloud computing to drive innovation.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 7+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in a lead or architect role.
- Proficiency in AWS services (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS).
- Strong experience with automation tools like Ansible and CI/CD platforms like Jenkins.
- Expertise in front‑end development with React
JS and back‑end programming in Ruby (Rails or similar frameworks). - Proven ability to interpret and implement regulatory specifications, particularly DOT standards.
- Experience leading development teams and managing web services architectures.
- Solid understanding of full‑stack development, databases (SQL/No
SQL), and API design (RESTful, Graph
QL).
- Knowledge of video transport and streaming technologies for fleet‑based applications.
- Familiarity with traffic management systems and data processing (develop Com Spec, and support NTCIP, authorization of and authentication).
- Experience with WZDX standards for work zone data integration.
- Proficiency in GIS mapping and geospatial tools for location‑based services.
- Understanding of IoT for fleet environments.
- Integration experience with third‑party APIs, such as Waze for traffic and navigation data.
- Additional tools/technologies:
Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, or similar for infrastructure as code. - Strong problem‑solving skills and a passion for transportation technology.

This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager
Salary Range$110,000 - $155,000 per year based on qualifications
