Adult Softball Umpire

Overview

This position requires you to keep the environment safe and fun by being a good communicator! Umpires hired for this position are able to manage games in a firm but professional way, especially in intense situations.

• Maintain full knowledge of all rules, policies, procedures, and codes of conduct for adult slowpitch softball leagues and pass a written test upon hire.
• Attend staff meetings and adhere to Apex Park and Recreation District policies.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations.
• Assist in field setup, including raking and setting bases.
• Cover shifts on short notice when needed.
• Games are held Monday – Friday from 6 pm to 10:30 pm with an average of 4–10 hours per week.

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Have a background in slowpitch softball.
• Umpires will be required to keep score on an electric scoreboard.
• At least one year of umpiring bat and ball sports.
• Knowledge of USA and USSSA slow pitch rules helpful but not mandatory.

Work may take place in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying weather conditions including sun, heat, cold, rain, snow, and humidity.
Physical Activity(s): Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull objects and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
