This position requires the skill to understand and follow both oral and written instructions in an independent manner, read and write at a sufficient level for successful performance of required duties. Successful experience and first‑hand knowledge in working with students and families of diverse academic, socio‑economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
EducationHigh School Diploma and college‑level courses required, in areas of behavior science, sociology, or public relations.
Must Possess and Maintain a Valid California Driver's LicenseMUST POSSESS AND MAINTAIN A VALID CALIFORNIA DRIVER'S LICENSE.

Duties of PositionTo act as a liaison between district school sites and parents/guardians to engage families in strengthening relationships within the school community, building capacity to support learning in the home, and assisting with access to resources that address barriers to learning. Employees in this classification receive limited supervision from a school site administrator within a framework of policies and procedures. This job classification is responsible for providing information and communication with parents/guardians/families and must exercise initiative and possess communication skills.
Serve as a liaison between the district, school sites, and families, ensuring accurate and timely communication with all appropriate parties. Promote and support family engagement in schools and in their children's education. Collect and analyze data on family needs to identify and connect them with appropriate services available at the school. Collaborate with school site administrators to plan, organize, and deliver services—such as workshops, trainings, meetings, and college trips—for all families and guardians, including underrepresented groups (e.g., migrant, McKinney‑Vento, and families of students with disabilities).
Develop and conduct trainings for families and staff to increase and improve family engagement in areas such as district categorical programs, family‑engagement technology, and committee advisory responsibilities. Provide knowledge/access to a variety of school and community services/resources available to families/guardians to assist them with being part of their child's education. Provide meaningful information and resources to help families/guardians support their child's educational progress.
Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating family engagement programs. Coordinate needed services with families to ensure that services and support are having the intended impact. Communicate with District-level personnel, school staff, families, students, and public agencies regarding the family engagement programs, services and related issues. Assist in the preparation and planning of school site events and assist with district advisory meetings/activities related to family involvement/engagement.
