FOOD SAFETY & QA – PRODUCTIONINTERNSHIP
LOCATION: BAKERSFIELD AREA
REPORTSTO: DEPARTMENTMANAGER
PURPOSE: The Food Safety & Quality Assurance Internship provides undergraduate students with hands‑on experience aligned with their academic interests. This is a paid six‑week internship running August – September, with support available for students seeking college credit.
Minimum Job Qualifications- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Food Science, Agricultural Science, Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Plant Science, or a related field.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately document observations and data.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced production environment.
- Basic knowledge of food safety, quality assurance principles, or Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Qualified to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must pass all pre‑placement requirements applicable to the position.

- Assist with quality inspections of fresh carrots, potatoes, and value-added vegetable products to verify compliance with company and customer quality standards.
- Collect, record, and analyze quality data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Observe production processes and identify opportunities to improve product quality, consistency, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in food safety and quality audits while learning company quality management systems.
- Assist with product sampling, defect evaluations, and documentation of inspection results.
- Support investigations related to quality concerns and help identify corrective and preventive actions.
- Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, Food Safety, and Operations teams on cross-functional projects.
- Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation complies with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Follow all food safety, workplace safety, and sanitation procedures while working in production and warehouse environments.
- Complete a capstone project focused on improving quality, food safety, or operational processes and present findings to department leadership.
Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Ability to move in food processing facilities (sometimes through narrow passages, in wet areas, or on elevated platforms). Ability to occasionally move about inside the office, food processing facilities and/or farming fields. Must be able to work in different temperatures (working temperatures as hot as 100° to 115° F and as cold as
-20° F to 32°
F). Must be able to work in a high noise area. Ability to inspect equipment and products.
STARTINGWAGE: $17.75 - $22.00 (dependent on year in college)
