SUMMARY
Join a well-established environmental consulting team working on a wide range of site investigation and remediation projects. Partner Engineering and Science, Inc. is seeking an Environmental Project Manager (5-8 years' experience) to support our Environmental Solutions Practice in Asbury Park, NJ.
This role is ideal for either a Project Manager or a developing Project Manager transitioning from field and task-level execution into independent management of small-to-mid-size projects, while supporting senior Project Managers on larger, more complex remediation programs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage small-to-mid-size environmental projects to meet technical, regulatory, schedule, and budget objectives
- Support senior Project Managers on large, complex remediation and multi-site programs
- Plan, schedule, and implement site investigations and remedial activities in accordance with applicable state regulations
- Prepare and review technical reports and regulatory submittals
- Coordinate internal teams, subcontractors, and field staff to execute projects in alignment with scope, schedule, and budget
- Oversee quality control throughout the project lifecycle
- Track project schedules, milestones, and financial performance, providing regular updates and recommendations
- Communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders regarding project status and key decisions
- Provide field oversight as needed to ensure execution aligns with project scope, budget, and safety requirements
- Delegate tasks and provide day-to-day direction to junior staff and field teams
- Manage subcontractor and client invoicing and project cost tracking
- Support proposal preparation, cost estimating, and work plan development
- Identify scope changes and support change order development
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including client coordination
- Experience investigating environmentally impacted sites
- Strong understanding of environmental remediation lifecycle
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities concurrently
- Experience translating field data into regulatory strategy and reporting
- Strong technical writing and report review skills
- Working knowledge of project budgeting, cost estimating, and financial tracking
- Ability to lead small teams and coordinate subcontractors and field personnel
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
- 5-8 years of relevant environmental consulting experience, focused on site investigation and remediation
- Experience with state-specific environmental regulations (NJ, NY, CT, PA, or others) strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in geology, environmental science, engineering, or related field
- Advanced degree (optional) is a plus
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER training
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
- Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screen
- Ability to perform field-related activities, including standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to approximately 40-50 pounds
