PeerRecovery Support Specialist

Job Description /SummaryPeer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS) works with DCP&P involved parents and caretakers who live with substance use disorders. PRSS assists clients in formulating and meeting goals related to recovery and wellness. PRSS meets with clients out in the community and helps them access resources including 12-step mutual support meetings, food pantries, diaper banks and social services.
Essential Job Function- Driving client in agency vehicle
- Building knowledge of and connections with local resources
- Maintain regular meeting schedule with client in the community
- Serve as sober advocate for client
- Developing and working towards client-identified recovery goals
- Demonstrates empathetic and non judgmental stance to recovery
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong sense of professional boundaries
- High school diploma or equivalency, Bachelor's Degree is preferred

Skills:
written and verbal - Basic Computer skills
- Valid Driver's License
- Must be 21 years of age
- Knowledge of addictions preferred
- At least 2 continuous years of sustained recovery
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
The Department of Children and Families approved Peer Recovery Support Service training including Ethics and Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
Additional trainings may include:
