Accountant, Financial Reporting, Accounts Receivable​/ Collections

JOB OVERVIEW

University Accounting Operations, under the Office of the University Controller, ensures the accuracy and completeness of the accounting data in the university's Oracle financial system. The department processes departmental journal entries, wires, remote check deposits, reconciles and analyzes balance sheet accounts, and prepares & files various surveys, reports, and returns for external organizations. The Accountant reports directly to the Manager, Accounting and applies generally accepted accounting principles to analyze financial information, prepare accurate reconciliations, and maintain internal controls.

• Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including prepaids and accrued liabilities.

• Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field, conferred by the start date.
• Education may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business from an accredited university.
• Experience in accounting.
• Advanced proficiency in MS Excel (v‑lookups, pivot tables, macros).
• Basic knowledge of AI‑enabled productivity tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail oriented, accurate, and highly organized.

Salary Range: $22.55 - $37.24 per hour.

Campus:
Ashburn, Virginia. Full‑time, 40 hours per week. Monday‑Friday 8:30 am – 5:30 pm. Job requires on‑site work; hybrid and telework options are available.
