Job Overview
This is general clerical and secretarial work performed in a school. An employee in this class performs varied office operations requiring well-developed office skills. Assignments typically consist of one or more activities performed in school main offices such as attendance record keeping, processing administrative actions (time and attendance reports, and personnel actions), and producing complex word processing documents for teachers.
Responsibilities- Responds to requests for information made from the public, parents, staff, and other interested parties.
- Answers questions within area of authority; directs callers/visitors to appropriate location or staff member.
- Directs and participates in daily attendance work required to keep accurate school attendance records.
- Receives students in attendance office: prepares and issues admit slips to class, permits to leave school early, hall passes, and tardy slips.
- Prepares and prints school attendance reports and lists for distribution to teachers and other staff members.
- Updates attendance forms, attendance cards, etc. for changes in enrollment.
- Contacts parents to verify student absences.
- Complies and computes data and prepares a variety of records, reports, and other correspondence related to student attendance matters and reporting.
- Confers and consults with students, parents, staff, judicial agents, social services, and other appropriate parties regarding student attendance matters.
- Prepares a variety of general and specific correspondence, logs, paperwork, forms and other related information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Files documents of a routine and confidential nature alphabetically, numerically, or by other prescribed methods established with filing systems.
- Makes copies, and sends documents electronically, by fax, or via mailing.
Education: High school diploma or GED
Experience: General office or secretarial experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly talking, expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word. Frequently sitting and/or remaining in a stationary position for long periods of time.
Exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
