Summary

Organizational

Location:

Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Acquisition, Acquisition Management Division. Locations:
Ashburn, VA;
Washington, DC.

Salary: $ (GS-14, Step
1) to $ (GS-14, Step 10).

Duties

Provide expert technical advice and guidance on procurement and acquisition matters. Identify and resolve complex problems, develop new approaches and policies to improve the acquisition process, and support the award and administration of CBP contracts and agreements.

Typical assignments include:

  • Preparing documents required in the Procurement Request package.
  • Supporting the Contracting Officer and Program Manager in pre‑award activities and post‑award administration of contracts and interagency agreements.
  • Assisting Technical Evaluation Team and Business Evaluation Team in evaluating vendor proposals.
  • Preparing and executing persuasive presentations.
  • Adopting processes that streamline acquisition.
  • Monitoring performance periods and establishing schedules to ensure timely renewal of contracts and interagency agreements.
Requirements

You must be a U.S. citizen. Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered with Selective Service. You must be a U.S. resident for at least the last three of five years.

All pre‑employment processes will be conducted in English, including background investigation and drug‑free workplace testing.

As a CBP employee you will be required to adhere to government ethics standards, obtain approvals for outside employment, and submit financial disclosures.

CBP follows the DHS Drug‑Free Workplace Plan and background investigation requirements. Eligibility for employment will be verified via E‑Verify, and financial disclosures are required.

Qualifications

Specialized experience: 1 year of experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

  • Providing advice and instruction on procurement regulations, policies, and contracting principles.
  • Writing and editing procurement and contracting documents.
  • Delivering oral and written communication, including reports and presentations.
  • Identifying and resolving problems in the acquisition and contracting lifecycle.

Experience may include paid work, unpaid work, and volunteer work (e.g., Peace Corps, Ameri Corps).
