Engineer Tech in Training; Ashburn, VA

Overview

Holder Construction is currently seeking entry level Engineer Technicians in Training to support field supervision and projects located in Ashburn, VA.

The ideal candidate is a team player who thrives in a challenging and fast-paced yet supportive construction environment. The person should be able to work independently on assignments, handle multiple projects, remain flexible, and meet tight deadlines.

• Assist Field Engineers in operating robotic total station instruments, auto levels, and other surveying instruments.
• Assist with establishing building control, setting markers, lines, corners, elevations, grades, alignments, angles, positions, and distances.
• Maintain total station, field book, survey equipment, and tools.
• Provide primary support to field supervision, demonstrate ownership of assigned tasks, maintain professionalism, and use critical thinking to solve issues.

• Ideal candidates have 6 months to 1 year of experience; able to read construction drawings.
• Training in construction safety protocols (e.g., OSHA 10, fall protection, mobile elevated platform, boom and scissor).
• A high school diploma or GED is a plus; strong time management skills.

• Agile/mobile; able to stand or walk for long periods; able to use fingers, hands, and arms to reach and manipulate objects.
• Able to climb ladders, scaffolds, and other structures; work on uneven surfaces/heights; read/write; good vision and hearing (natural or corrected).
• Capable of lifting and carrying materials weighing up to 50 lbs 75% of the time.
• Work in an OSHA-compliant safety environment; outdoor work; overtime and weekend hours; punctuality required.
