Position Overview

The Construction Manager is responsible for day‑to‑day onsite management of electrical, mechanical, fire protection, and other subcontractor activities in live, mission‑critical data centers. The role focuses on coordinating subcontractors, ensuring safety and quality, and keeping work aligned to schedule, procedures, leases, and client requirements while maintaining strict uptime.

This onsite position is the primary field representative for the project team, ensuring safe execution, adherence to standards of procedure (SOPs), and effective communication with client operations and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary onsite point of contact for subcontractor supervisors, vendors, and client representatives across assigned data center sites.
  • Plan and coordinate daily field activities, ensuring work sequences protect uptime and comply with approved MOPs/SOPs, leases, and site rules.
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols including LOTO, hot work, confined space, excavation, and other high‑risk procedures; conduct regular safety walks and audits.
  • Track onsite task completion against schedule; maintain daily reports, logs, and This Week / Next Week updates, promptly flagging deviations and risks.
  • Prepare and manage RFIs, support change order development with field documentation, and ensure drawing updates and redlines are captured and communicated.
  • Coordinate logistics, deliveries, and laydown areas; perform pre‑job walks and develop site utilization plans in collaboration with subcontractors.
  • Lead start‑of‑day and end‑of‑day coordination with client operations to review work plans, impacts, and status.
  • Schedule and coordinate inspections with client representatives; ensure work complies with NFPA, NEC, and local codes.
  • Support documentation and activities required for project closeout, including punch lists, final inspections, and turnover packages.
Required / Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field AND 3+ years of related construction experience;
OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of construction management or field engineering experience in mission‑critical, industrial, or data center environments, including at least 2 years overseeing live electrical or MEP work.
  • Proven track record coordinating subcontractors, RFIs, change orders, QA/QC documentation, and AHJ/client inspections on active construction sites.
  • Working knowledge of electrical distribution systems (switch gear, PDUs, RPPs, UPS, generators) and mechanical/cooling systems in data centers.
  • Familiarity with NFPA, NEC, OSHA, and site safety practices for high‑risk work (LOTO, hot work, confined space, excavation).
  • Proficiency with construction management tools and standard productivity software (e.g., Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, including leading onsite meetings and interfacing with client operations teams.
Other Requirements
  • Ability to work primarily onsite at data center locations with regional travel as required.
  • Ability to walk job sites, climb ladders, and navigate active construction areas safely.
  • Valid drivers license and acceptable driving record.
  • This role is scheduled on a 5/10 work pattern (5 days per week, 10 hours per day).
Additional or Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with formal project management methodologies, including Waterfall and/or Agile; PMP is a plus.
  • Prior experience leading live data center retrofit projects or other mission‑critical upgrades with strict uptime requirements.
  • OSHA 30‑hour construction safety training.
  • Experience coordinating multiple concurrent projects and vendors on multi‑site programs.
