Job OverviewThe Math Resource Teacher provides expert attention to the needs of students in the area of mathematics and supports teachers in the implementation of effective mathematics instruction.
Roles and Responsibilities- Assess mathematics strengths and needs of students, share information with parents and staff, and use results to support the planning of effective mathematics intervention programs.
- Coordinate the administration of mathematics assessments, examine the use of data, and monitor student progress.
- Provide mathematics intervention to students who need support.
- Support, supplement, and extend classroom teaching to implement a quality mathematics program that meets the needs of students, aligns with the curriculum, and collaborates with teachers, staff, and administrators.
- Lead professional development in mathematics, provide information on conceptual development, model strategies, conduct demonstration and collaborative lessons, and coach or mentor teachers.
- Maintain in‑depth knowledge of Virginia Standards of Learning curriculum standards in mathematics.
- Complete math department training as requested, including Math Workshop training.
- Attend bi‑monthly math department collaboration meetings to provide aligned services and resources for teachers and students.
- Bachelor's Degree required.
- Three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience in mathematics.
- Holds or is eligible for a Virginia Collegiate Professional License; endorsement as a Mathematics Specialist preferred.
- Knowledge of current research and best practices in mathematics.
Regularly talking, exchanging ideas verbally; convey detailed or important spoken instructions accurately, loudly or quickly. Must possess normal cognitive abilities—including learning, recalling, and applying certain practices and policies. Frequently sit or remain stationary for extended periods. Occasionally exert up to 25 lbs force when lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or moving objects.
