Job Description Salary:
The Master Electrician is responsible for managing the safe energization of equipment in the field, overseeing both permanent and temporary energy sources. This is a field role located in Ashburn VA that involves ensuring the safe and efficient management of electrical systems within an active construction site.
Role Objective:
Ensure the safety and proper management of energy systems through hands-on supervision, focusing on lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and compliance.
- i.LOTO Implementation:
Oversee and enforce lockout/tagout procedures for electrical and mechanical systems to ensure safe maintenance and operation. - ii.
Safety Compliance:
Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations and standards on-site. - iii.
Daily Inspections:
Conduct daily inspections of energy systems to ensure compliance with LOTO procedures and identify potential hazards. - iv.
Incident Management:
Lead on-site response to any safety incidents related to energy systems, including investigation and reporting. - vi.
Coordination with Contractors:
Work closely with contractors to ensure they adhere to LOTO procedures and safety protocols. - vii.
Reporting:
Provide daily and weekly safety reports, including LOTO compliance and incident reports, to the back-office support team.
- Ability to interpret drawings and blueprints, particularly one-line drawings.
- Ability to work with engineers to convey site conditions.
- Familiarity with diverse power redundancy levels and major electrical equipment used in data center construction (e.g., Electrical Switchgear (MV & LV), Transformers (MV & LV), Uninterrupted Power Supply Systems, Automatic Transfer Switches, Generators, Power Distribution Units, etc.).
- Review, understand, and oversee the execution of detailed Methods of Procedure (MOPs) outlining safe equipment energization steps.
- Oversee equipment energizations with a focus on safety and operational integrity.
- Manage the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program effectively.
- Coordinate activities between trades and with the Owner's representatives as required.
- Advanced electrical knowledge is essential.
- Proficiency in Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures (electrical and mechanical)
- NFPA 70E certification is required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel) and PDF editing programs (e.g., Bluebeam, Adobe) is necessary.
