Job Description

A Configuration Manager provides configuration and data management support to their assigned program(s). They plan, manage, and report on documentation to meet customer configuration requirements, ensuring the consistency, integrity, and accuracy of system documentation, drawings, design artifacts, baselines, and related configuration information throughout the product lifecycle. They provide high‑level support and guidance to all departments, ensuring alignment with contractual requirements, internal standards, and industry best practices.

Functions
  • Experience and professional level skill utilizing Oracle Agile PLM, Rational Clear Quest, Windchill, JIRA, and/or other similar applications.
  • Creating and maintaining configuration baselines for developmental, production, and sustainment programs.
  • Coordinating engineering changes, ensuring approval requirements are met and implementation is managed.
  • Ensuring rigorous adherence to Contract Statements of Work, policies, procedures, and technical documentation and providing strategic oversight to ensure all documentation and configuration records meet or exceed compliance standards.
  • Implementing data control methodologies preventing process or system issues and maintaining proper standards for quality.
  • Reviewing and approving/rejecting all formal program documentation, coordinating with contracts organizations and customers regarding new or changing requirements, and integrating with program teams to coordinate deliveries.
  • Ensuring identification, definition, implementation, release, and maintenance of data items and Supplier and Contract Data Requirements List schedules are in accordance with program requirements.
  • Creating Management Plans to ensure the integrity of customer requirements.
  • Proactively identifying data errors and ensuring accuracy.
  • Enforcing the protection of Intellectual Property.
  • Supervising the organization, review, and authorization of new and revised drawings and documentation; guaranteeing that all program documentation complies with internal standards, formatting requirements, and contractual obligations.
  • Creating Configuration Status Accounting reports for the program.
  • Leading and supporting functional and physical configuration audits, ensuring thorough preparation and adherence to audit requirements if contractually required; driving continuous improvement initiatives based on audit findings and industry best practices.
  • Providing high‑level functional support to engineering and program management activities, including analyses, consultations, and special topic discussions as needed.
  • Serving as a subject‑matter expert, offering advanced guidance on hardware configuration management methods, tools, and procedures to project teams; acting as a key liaison between management and other functional groups to address and resolve complex configuration management issues.
  • Directing the Configuration Change Board process, including the review, modification, and approval of documents, drawings, and associated records, ensuring clarity, compliance, and completeness in all change‑related documentation.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience;
    Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience; or in lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Active Secret US Security Clearance.

  • Extensive technical knowledge and experience in hardware configuration management or related engineering disciplines, demonstrated through advanced education and extensive professional experience.
