OverviewAs a Mechanical Applications Engineer / Principal Engineer / Technical Solutions Architect
, you will serve as the highest-level mechanical subject matter expert within the organization. You will provide deep technical ownership across customer engagements, advise sales leadership, and help shape product strategy within mission-critical cooling applications.
This role bridges engineering, manufacturing, sales, and executive strategy — making you a key driver of both technical excellence and business success.
What You’ll Do Engineering & Design Leadership- Design mechanical components, assemblies, and complete system applications
- Apply advanced knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science to mission-critical cooling systems
- Oversee mechanical testing, validation, and performance optimization
- Serve as primary technical advisor for customers and strategic accounts
- Support complex RFIs/RFPs and proposal development
- Translate highly technical concepts into clear business value for clients and stakeholders
- Represent Davis Infrastructure at industry events and technical forums
- Advise sales leadership on technical positioning and solution strategy
- Shape product roadmap and application strategy
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to optimize design for production
- Ensure compliance with mechanical standards (ASME, ISO, and applicable industry requirements)
- Develop technical documentation and training materials
- Deep expertise in data center cooling systems and mission-critical environments
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science
- Strong analytical, communication, and strategic problem-solving skills
- Proven ability to lead technical discussions with customers and executive stakeholders
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
- Experience with designing mechanical components
, assemblies, and systems, and mechanical testing and validation methods. - Strong knowledge of data center cooling principles
, including thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and materials science. - Highly proficient with CAD/CAE tools (Solid Works, CATIA, ANSYS) and compliance with industry standards (ASME, ISO).
- Familiarity with relevant industry standards and compliance requirements
- Experience reviewing RFIs/RFPs and supporting proposal strategy
- Demonstrated ability to align technical solutions with business objectives
- Experience influencing product development or go-to-market strategy
- Hybrid work model (primarily Ashburn, VA corporate office)
- Occasional travel to client sites, manufacturing partners, and industry events
- High-visibility role interacting with customers, sales, and leadership
- Collaborative team environment with mentorship and leadership opportunities
