Engineering Operations Senior Manager (Data Center)

Location: Ashburn, VA (Onsite)

Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (On-call support as needed)

Duration: 3-month contract with possible extensions or C2H

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Operations Senior Manager to lead facility engineering operations within a critical data center environment
. This onsite role is responsible for overseeing daily building operations, managing union engineering staff, ensuring preventive maintenance execution, supporting vendor coordination, and maintaining uptime for mission‑critical systems.

, and working knowledge of UPS systems and critical cooling infrastructure

• Lead daily engineering operations within a mission-critical data center facility
• Supervise and manage a team of union engineering staff (approx. 7 employees)
• Perform daily building walkthroughs to assess equipment and operational status
• Review work tickets, prioritize tasks, and assign work orders accordingly
• Oversee preventive maintenance (PM) schedules and ensure compliance
• Coordinate vendor activities, service schedules, and contractor access
• Support payroll, scheduling, and workforce management activities
• Maintain accurate reporting and operational documentation
• Ensure facility systems are operating reliably and efficiently
• Provide emergency response and on‑call support as required
• Communicate professionally with internal stakeholders and client representatives

• 5–8 years of experience in facilities engineering or data center operations
• Proven people management / team leadership experience
• Strong knowledge of data center environments and critical infrastructure
• Basic understanding of UPS systems and critical cooling equipment
• Ability to manage vendors, schedules, and operational workflows
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams)

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related discipline
• Familiarity with Service Now or similar work order management systems
• Working knowledge of IT infrastructure fundamentals
• Relevant certifications/licenses (highly preferred)
• Experience leading union-based technical teams

This position is fully onsite in a data center environment
, requiring hands‑on oversight, daily facility inspections, and close coordination with staff, vendors, and leadership.
