*** This individual will work exclusively for Turner's Advanced Technology Group, which includes our Data Center, Pharmaceutical, Industrial/Manufacturing, and EV/Battery/Renewables market segment groups (MSG). This position can be performed remotely from any location in the United States. ***
Prepare detailed estimates for the project based on the design documents, narratives, and specifications, focusing on the Mechanical/Plumbing/Fire Protection trades.
Reports to:
Preconstruction Manager / MEP Manager
- Lead mechanical estimating responsibility for complex projects such as Mission Critical, Market Segment, and Government jobs with MEP package contract value of $25M+.
- Communicate estimate and scopes of work to stakeholders.
- Prepare quantity take-offs, analysis, estimates, and studies for Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection items from conceptual design through completed construction documents.
- Analyze existing site conditions and contract documents to determine required scope.
- Establish working relationships with local material suppliers and equipment vendors to solicit accurate and current pricing.
- Develop working relationships with local trade partners to maintain active list of qualified bidders.
- Perform constructability analysis of project documents and communicate design and constructability issues to project team and stakeholders.
- Provide first-cost analysis and participate in life cycle analysis with Design team.
- Participate in decision making process with Operations and Procurement to determine MEP trade partners.
- Lead company-wide or regional MEP strategic initiatives and special projects.
- Contribute subject matter expertise of Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection system for project pursuits.
- Participate in development and implementation of MEP training.
- Lead integration of MEP Operations staff during MEP Pre Con process.
- Coordinate equipment pricing with Source Blue.
- Conduct value analysis to define cost-efficient alternatives.
- Serve as liaison with Engineers, Design consultants, Trade partners, other Turner staff, and Owner representatives.
- Prepare estimates and proposals for contract types.
- Participate in estimate reviews with Design team and client.
- Participate in project hand-off to Operations.
- Participate in authoring scope requisitions for bidding/procurement.
- Evaluate trade partner proposals relative to scope of work and manage identified scope gap risks.
- Assist project staff in evaluating large change orders.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field, and minimum of 8 years of related estimating experience or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Mechanical, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems.
- Formulate advanced scenarios to address known and unknown scope relative to comprehensive cost analysis.
- Leverage relationships with vendors, trade partners, and project team members to elevate client service.
- Excellent project management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize.
- Professional written and verbal communication skills to deliver presentations with confidence.
- Proficient computer skills and Microsoft Office suite.
- Supervisory experience desired, able to delegate, coordinate work of others, monitor performance, and deliver feedback.
