Position OverviewWe are looking for a high-impact Senior Cloud/Fin Ops Engineer to bridge the gap between cloud engineering and financial accountability. In this role, you won't just be monitoring dashboards; you will be the architect of client's cost-efficiency strategy. You will design, develop, and implement technical requirements and automated processes that integrate Fin Ops principles directly into our cloud application lifecycle.
The ideal candidate has a deep engineering background with a specific focus on Microsoft Azure, and a passion for building scalable, cost-transparent cloud environments.
Key Responsibilities- Architecture & Design: Design and implement cloud application requirements that prioritize cost-efficiency without sacrificing performance or reliability.
- Process Engineering: Develop and deploy automated operational processes for Fin Ops, including automated tagging enforcement, right-sizing workflows, and lifecycle management policies.
- Implementation: Build and maintain cloud governance frameworks using Azure Policy, Blueprints, and Resource Graph to ensure fiscal guardrails are "baked-in" to the infrastructure.
- Cost Optimization: Identify and execute complex optimization opportunities, including Reserved Instance (RI) / Savings Plan management, spot instance integration, and architectural refactoring for cost.
- Stakeholder
Collaboration:
Partner with Dev Ops and Finance teams to create granular cost-attribution models and provide actionable insights through advanced telemetry and reporting. - Tooling & Automation: Develop custom scripts (Power Shell/Python) and utilize Azure Cost Management + Billing to automate anomaly detection and alerting.
- Experience: 6+ years in Cloud Engineering/Architecture with at least 2 years focused specifically on Fin Ops or Cloud Cost Optimization.
- Azure Expertise: Mastery of the Azure ecosystem, including Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Azure Advisor, and Power BI for cost visualization.
- Technical
Skills: - Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, or ARM templates).
- Strong scripting abilities in Power Shell, Python, or Bash.
- Experience with Kubernetes (AKS) cost management and container-level attribution.
- Fin Ops Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Fin Ops Framework (Inform, Optimize, Operate). Fin Ops Certified Practitioner (FCP) or Professional status is a significant plus.
- Analytical Mindset: Ability to translate complex cloud billing data into business-relevant narratives for executive leadership.
- Certifications: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Administrator Associate.
- Experience: Previous experience in a "Chargeback" or "Showback" environment.
- Soft Skills: A "consultative" approach—ability to influence engineering teams to adopt cost‑saving measures without direct authority.
