Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee and execute all aspects of our client's accounting and financial reporting functions. This role requires a highly hands‑on professional with deep expertise in construction accounting, including percentage‑of‑completion revenue recognition and Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reporting.

The Controller will serve as a key business partner to senior leadership, providing financial insight into project performance, while ensuring the integrity of financial data and compliance with applicable accounting standards. This position offers a defined path toward advancement into a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) role based on performance and business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and perform the full-cycle accounting function, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, general ledger, and financial reporting
  • Lead and execute the monthly, quarterly, and year‑end close processes
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) schedules
  • Perform detailed job costing and project margin analysis, including cost tracking and revenue recognition
  • Collaborate with project managers and operations teams to monitor project performance, forecasts, and cost variances
  • Prepare cash flow projections, manage working capital, and support financial planning activities
  • Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts
  • Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other third‑party professionals
  • Establish and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to support a growing organization
  • Identify and implement process improvements and system enhancements
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • Minimum of 15+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant experience in the construction industry
  • Work‑in‑Progress (WIP) reporting
  • Job cost accounting and project‑based financial management
  • Proven ability to operate effectively in a hands‑on capacity, managing both transactional and strategic responsibilities
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills
