This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Trade, Trade Regulatory Audit (TRA), Professional Assurance Division in one of the following locations:
Ashburn, VA;
Washington, DC.

Duties

Serving as a Supervisor for headquarters branch, you will plan and assign work based on priorities, requirements and capabilities of the employee. This position starts at a salary of $ (GS-14, Step
1) to $ (GS-14, Step 10). CBP Office of Trade is the architect of the most robust customs system in the world and the second largest revenue source for the U.S. Government.   • Major duties for this position include but are not limited to:
    Analyzing and interpreting legislation and agency policies
  • Coordinating with other Federal audit organizations developing agency guidance and monitoring agency-level systems and organizations
  • Establishing review criteria to improve audit efficiency
  • Coordinating with outside agencies for planning, scheduling, and conducting special projects
  • Developing and implementing corrective action plans based on audit findings and recommendations

Qualifications

Basic Requirement: You must provide supporting documentation to show you meet the basic requirement below:

A. Degree:
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor s or higher degree in accounting, auditing, or a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting. The 24 hours may include up to 6 hours of credit in business law.

Transcript must include date degree was awarded or conferred. OR

B. A combination of education and experience: at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge. The applicant s background must also include one of the following:
1) Twenty-four semester hours in accounting or auditing courses;
2) A certificate as a Certified Public Accountant or a Certified Internal Auditor;
3) Completion of degree requirements with substantial accounting/audit coursework and other qualifications as described.

You qualify for this position if you possess one year of specialized experience as described below and meet the basic requirement listed above.

Experience: You qualify for the GS-14 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as: coordinating and leading various projects with other federal components, providing technical assistance and system requirements; providing expert advice and briefings to senior management on mission priorities, new initiatives, risks, procurement issues, contract administration, and training programs;

coordinating, communicating, and leading initiatives between divisions and other agencies; analyzing and interpreting legislation and agency policies; ensuring training needs are assessed and delivered; preparing performance management reports, strategic plans, and accountability reports; representing the agency with internal and external stakeholders.
