Test Engineer - CBP public trust

Job Description

GDIT is seeking a Manual Functional Test Engineer to support a software delivery project with a government client. This role is mission‑driven and based in Ashburn, VA (hybrid work). The candidate must be local to the office and a U.S. citizen.

• Work with the development team to create test strategies and customized solutions.
• Collect and develop test data and technical information used for creating test suites.
• Document test strategies and results as needed.
• Engage with complex and data‑heavy test scenarios.
• Create and modify test cases for web‑based/cloud applications.
• Write SQL queries to check data integrity and to support testing.
• Use issue/bug tracking tools such as Jira to log and track defects.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure client needs and expectations are met or exceeded.
• Research problems, identify root causes, and recommend and implement solutions.

• Bachelor’s degree.
• 2–3 years of experience in a Java‑based development environment as a tester or related role.
• Experience creating test plans based on gathered requirements and documenting test results.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Understanding of relational database design.
• Experience working with a government client.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proactive learning attitude and ability to pick up new technology quickly.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Ability to obtain the required government security clearance (CBP Final).

The likely salary range is $81,349 - $80,500. Salary will be based on experience, location, and contractual requirements.
