Data Center Technician positions involve in‑depth hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and participation in an on‑call rotation. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting data centers and all server, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, and troubleshoot network issues.
- Respond to operational incidents that impact service availability and carry out routine network, server hardware, and OS repairs to contribute to overall availability of AWS services.
- Serve as primary contact for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Perform on‑call duties and participate in scheduled maintenance and change management activities.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
- Lifting and moving material up to 40 pounds.
- Working in cramped or elevated locations; bending, lifting, stretching, and reaching.
- Standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day; working shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations.
- Ascending and descending ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.
- Work in an industrial environment; may be assigned to a facility still under development, requiring travel for training.
- 2+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience, or related IT experience.
- 2+ years of computer layer 1/2 networking (troubleshooting and repair) experience.
- Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT‑related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering) or equivalent professional or military IT experience.
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- Experience training and onboarding new team members.
- Work flexible schedule including weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
- Bachelor’s degree in an IT‑related field or equivalent professional or military IT experience.
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- Experience training and onboarding new team members.
The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package includes sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
