Data Center Administrator

• Share responsibility for 24x7 support of data center-specific issues with local team members
• Manage the lifecycle of servers, storage, and network equipment, including receiving, racking, maintenance, and recycling
• Work with operations teams and vendors to ensure equipment operates optimally
• Coordinate and execute failed-component replacements
• Coordinate, communicate, and supervise facility maintenance
• Perform daily facility walkthroughs for equipment error lights and inventory discrepancies
• Maintain spotless data center, office, and storage spaces
• Ensure cable management meets department standards and enforce environmental policies
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, network, and physical connectivity problems
• Act as first responder for technical and facility-related data center issues
• Participate in data center operations problem-solving and process improvement
• Support planning, design, and documentation projects for power, cooling, Layer 1 networking, and policies
• Provide remote-hands support for physical server, network, and telecommunications equipment
• Maintain relationships with data center facility managers and teams
• Contribute to the DCEng knowledge base, documentation, and culture

• Ability to lift equipment up to 50 lbs required
• Experience in a production data center environment highly preferred
• Understanding of data center power and cooling infrastructure components preferred
• Deep understanding of server components and repair preferred
• Ability to troubleshoot Dell and HP server hardware and open vendor support cases as needed preferred
• Basic understanding of power and cooling systems in data environments preferred
• Basic understanding of the Linux command line interface preferred

Demonstrates expertise in managing data center operations, including server, storage, and network equipment lifecycle management, troubleshooting hardware issues, and ensuring optimal facility maintenance. Proficient in collaborating with teams and vendors to enhance operational efficiency and maintain compliance with environmental standards.
