JOB DESCRIPTION

The Assistant Director Power plans, schedules, manages, coordinates, and directs of the Office of Power functions. The incumbent assists with effective management and the support of Capital Power projects for both High Voltage and Low Voltage SOGR. The incumbent assists in ensuring that standard operating procedures, maintenance control policies and other governing documents are developed, updated, and adhered to; as well as ensuring that employees are properly trained and equipped to perform their duties.

The incumbent assists with maintaining communication with utility providers to ensure effective coordination for both planned and unplanned outages. The incumbent will work directly with the Senior Director Power and other senior leadership, exercising discretion and independent judgement, to accomplish the objectives of the Authority.

Principal

Job Duties
  • Prepares periodic reports to assess possible problems, trends or other items of concern to be brought to the attention of senior leadership. Conducts special studies and investigations and acts as special project officer as directed.

  • Plans, directs, coordinates and manages all aspects of budget preparation and execution for all POWER operations (including, but not limited to, goals and objectives, levels of productivity, specified work standards, priorities, and compliance with technical and administrative activities.

  • Serves as department representative to branch offices, outside consultants and contractors. Responsible for ensuring all new design of POWER is state-of-the-art and responsive to POWER and user needs.

  • Assists in managing and coordinating all POWER department resources to ensure that all activities are accomplished efficiently, safely and economically and in conformance with assigned mission, goals and objectives.

  • Assists in ensuring that all assigned, Authority maintenance systems meet the various government regulatory agencies and Authority standards, with special consideration to the safety of patrons and employees.

  • Plans, directs, coordinates, evaluates and analyzes the performance of field operations, using information gathered from varied sources (to include Equipment Availability, Reliability, Analysis, Section Weekly Activity Reports, Quarterly and Semi-Annual Status Reports, Absenteeism analysis, Warranty Program Status Reports, installation and Construction Status Reports, Vital Signs and Personnel Certification Status Records) and takes action to increase efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Attends and/or participates in high-level meetings, hearings and planning sessions within the Authority and outside the Authority (i.e., COG, AREMA, TRB, APTA, FTA, etc.) that are related to the execution of the functional responsibilities of the Office of POWER.

  • Plans coordinates, manages and directs the POWER, training program to ensure activities are accomplished efficiently, safely, economically, and in compliance with the Authority's mission and goals. This includes ensuring personnel can perform required job functions by providing comprehensive training, certification and re-certification for required POWER employees.

  • Performs special assignments specified by senior leadership.
