This health position provides support for health service programs in schools. An employee in this class assists the Registered Nurse in a high school clinic under the nurse’s direction and supervision. The work includes performing basic first aid, maintaining health records, and related clinic duties as assigned.
Roles and Responsibilities- Check temperatures, render limited first aid, and assist with screening procedures.
- Assist with the maintenance of immunization records and inform appropriate officials of deficits. Assist aides in learning to organize clinics and familiarize them with documentation procedures.
- Assist the Registered Nurse with documentation of clinic visits and care provided daily.
- Administer medication in accordance with the School District's medication policy and document the same.
- Perform related work as assigned by the Registered Nurse.
Graduation from high school and experience in providing nurse assistant services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the following knowledge, abilities, and skills:
- Knowledge of basic health practices.
- Knowledge of basic computer skills.
- Ability to effectively deal with students requiring health assistance, communicate effectively orally and in writing, and work cooperatively with others.
Reports To: Principal
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Employment Length: 10 Months (192 Days), 3.75 hours per day
Salary Level: B.1 – Non-Exempt Level 4
Salary Range: $22.47 to $23.87 per hour
