Job Summary
This is a part‑time position. You will process, package, and stock meat products according to Meat Standards, clean work areas, provide customer service, unload and reload salvage stocks, and may also perform duties of a seafood clerk when assigned.

- Willingness to participate in and successfully complete required training and to work with the team to increase customer satisfaction and sales.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English.
- Ability to write simple correspondence in English.
- Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, vendors, and other associates who only speak English.
- Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers and to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement.
- Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Complete Company training including, but not limited to, new hire orientation, food sanitation, customer service network, safety, food safety, and product knowledge.
- Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear, taste or smell.
- Occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds and reach from 6‑72 inches; frequently lift or move up to 100 pounds and reach from 6‑72 inches.
- Specific vision abilities required: close vision, color, and depth perception.
The job is performed in a cool environment with an average temperature range of 34‑36 degrees Fahrenheit and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. The employee may occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
BenefitsPay Transparency:
Harris Teeter reasonably expects to pay between $14.25/hour and $20.50/hour for this role as a newly hired associate. Pay may depend on previous experience and skill sets of the applicant. You will be eligible for Harris Teeter’s group benefit plans that pertain to your position upon completion of applicable waiting periods. Eligibility for these benefits is subject to the terms of the applicable plan and Harris Teeter policy.
