Shift available: Wednesday - Saturday 6am-4pm

About the Position: The Data Center Technician, HVAC will perform skilled mechanical maintenance duties in inspection, repair, installation and alteration of data center heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment. This role conducts preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment in all Northern Ashburn facilities. We are seeking an early-career specialist who can grow with the company as we expand.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect, repair, modify and install HVAC equipment including refrigeration and air conditioning compressors, receivers, condensers, chillers, water cooling towers, forced air converter units, pumps, valves, expansion devices and related components
  • Conduct regular preventive maintenance inspections of refrigeration units, heating and ventilating units, electrically operated air-conditioning equipment, and perform necessary adjustments or repairs
  • Repair or replace defective parts and controls (thermostats, switches, fan controls, damper motors, levers, relays, filters, belts, compressors, heat exchangers, safety valves, etc.)
  • Operate hand and power tools, welding equipment, vacuum pump and test equipment; maintain equipment in safe working condition and manage parts/tools inventory
  • Maintain routine records and prepare reports
  • Assist co-workers with other tasks as needed
  • Assist with facility cleanliness and related duties as required
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in HVAC-related work and/or educational equivalent
  • Ability to perform skilled mechanical maintenance in the inspection, repair, installation and alteration of district heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration systems and related equipment
  • Experience calibrating systems
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance and routine servicing of equipment
  • Ability to write Method of Procedures (MOPs) for preventive maintenance, installation and repair activities
  • Capability to diagnose defects and install, repair and maintain heating, ventilating, refrigeration, and air-conditioning units
  • Adept at following oral and written instructions
  • Ability to follow specified policies and procedures
  • Ability to operate specialized machinery, equipment and tools used in HVACR maintenance
  • Effective oral and written communication, collaborative teamwork, and ability to work independently
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced 24/7 environment with flexibility for after-hours and weekends and on-call support
  • Demonstrated ability to meet schedules and timelines
  • Physical ability to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
