An Electrical Crew Leader plans, organizes, and schedules crews to complete assigned work orders, including assigning tasks. They also assure the work is being installed in a high‑quality manner and performing quality inspections. Crew Leaders also monitor task completion, compliance, and prevent safety issues.
Responsibilities Crew Leader – Core Responsibilities Crew & Daily Operations- Lead and manage a field crew (typically up to 10 electricians/apprentices)
- Assign daily tasks, keep the crew on schedule, and ensure daily productivity targets are met
- Maintain control of breaks and minimize lost time to keep work moving
- Responsible for crew productivity, quality of work, and pace of installation
- Responsible for a defined area, floor, building, or system (lighting, branch, power distribution, etc.)
- Ensure work is installed per drawings, specifications, codes, and industry standards
- Ensure work is installed on time and within the labor and equipment budget developed by the foreman
- Provide a weekly list to the Foreman identifying:
- Items impacting the crew’s scope
- Materials needed
- Site‑specific constraints or information required
- Participate in weekly Foreman meetings and actively communicate field conditions
- Compile material needs aligned with short‑term look‑ahead schedules
- Identify tools and equipment required to support the crew
- Assign and manage gang boxes and perform regular tool inspections
- Track materials by area/floor and maintain jobsite organization
- Responsible (with the Foreman) for cleanup related to the assigned scope of work
- Lead daily 10‑minute ORM/safety meetings
- Ensure crew compliance with all jobsite safety and ORM requirements
- Ensure AHAs related to the scope are reviewed, signed, and stored at the gang box
- Support accident/incident reporting and investigation procedures
- Perform quality control inspections of completed work
- Follow established QC plans and checklists
- Properly complete and return QC documentation to the site QC representative Reporting & Documentation
- Submit daily reports that include an audit of daily production targets
- Document progress, constraints, and material needs on an ongoing basis
- Lead by example and maintain clear expectations and accountability for the crew
- Coach and mentor electricians with the goal of developing future Crew Leaders
- Communicate clearly and consistently with the Foreman and Superintendent
- Proficient in field and reporting tools such as Bluebeam, POL (Procurement Online), Job Connect, timesheets, and basic field documentation systems
Experience:- 6+ years of experience in the electrical industry with a Highs School Degree or GED
- 4+ years of experience with an associate degree
