Job SummaryThe BAS / Controls Field Technician Associate will learn through hands‑on application how to assist with install, start‑up, and check‑out on a wide variety of projects. This person will work as part of the Install Team to provide technical support for project start‑up, installation, and testing, commissioning, and closeout of building automation systems software integration projects in industrial, commercial, and mission‑critical/technology sectors.
EssentialFunctions
- Installation, startup, commissioning and closeout of BAS/HVAC controls systems (90%) – observe and assist with installing and wiring BAS controllers and field devices; install and terminate low‑voltage cables; assist in startup and cutovers of panels and systems; develop MOPs for site activities; perform pre‑functional and functional testing; troubleshoot BAS systems and correct actions; observe commissioning efforts of external stakeholders; verify system operation against scope;
assist with QA/QC using BAS software tools; support installation inspections and closeout duties; provide shop drawing as‑built markups; organize job site material logistics, inventory, tools, and security. - Reporting and communication (10%) – assist with project communication and reporting including daily site updates, daily safety reporting, and progress reports; attend daily and weekly project meetings; document and track issues and out‑of‑scope efforts.
- Completion of assigned tasks and deliverables on time and on budget.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of HVAC, mechanical, and electrical systems and materials.
- Knowledge of controls wiring, relay logic, and associated materials.
- Skilled at using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams) and exceptionally organized for file management.
- Accurate and detail‑oriented assignment completion.
- Ability to leverage AI and emerging technologies to streamline workflows.
- Self‑motivation, proactivity, and resourcefulness in a remote environment.
- Follow company and site safety requirements.
- Analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence.
- Effective oral and written communication; ability to serve as primary client contact at times.
- Work under pressure and meet close deadlines.
- Achieve certification for NFPA 70E and/or OSHA training as required.
- Maintain job site organization.
- Manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Frequently manipulating, moving, or grasping small parts, devices, or tools; frequently remaining in stationary positions; moving through environments (low temperature, high temperature, outdoor elements); tight and confined spaces; descending/ascending stairs and ladders; positioning under or over equipment; moving equipment up to 50 lb.
Travel / Relocation RequirementsPrimarily local and regional travel within the home market or surrounding area. Must be based within reasonable commuting distance of the assigned region and able to travel locally as business needs require. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Valid REAL acceptable alternative (e.g., passport) required for travel. Travel defined as physically leaving home for business.
