FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN – Level 1, 2 or 3
At IEM, we’re dedicated to delivering world‑class solutions for complex power needs. We provide training on our specific equipment in Ashburn, VA for approximately 4 weeks. You will be responsible for hands‑on field service work at customer sites, focusing on installation of components and subassemblies and basic commissioning of IEM equipment, primarily in data center or industrial applications.
Responsibilities- Attend project meetings as required, including coordination with contractors and clients.
- Install and modify electrical or mechanical components and subassemblies, such as panel board interiors, circuit breakers, bus bars, switch gear section doors, subpanels, control components, power cabling, and control wiring.
- Perform basic testing of modified assemblies (visual, ductor, etc.).
- Perform basic commissioning of switchboards, control panels, and power products.
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits and networking equipment.
- Coordinate with Technical Project Manager or manufacturing facilities to resolve product or commissioning issues identified by IEM or reported by the customer, and identify additional field resources needed for installation and replacement parts.
- Perform preventive maintenance, field installations and modifications to existing equipment.
- Provide technical product support.
- Technical degree or equivalent and 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, data center, or field service role with commissioning of LV/MV electrical switch gear (required for Level 3).
- Team player with strong communication skills.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
- Ability to travel 75% of the time. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when needed.
- Experience with switch gear and electrical controls system (required for Level 3).
- Military experience (plus).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams (required for Level 3).
The hourly range for this role is $36.30–$52.80 per hour, based on location, experience, and qualifications.
