Join a dedicated team in Ashburn, VA as an Electrical Technician II, supporting the reliability and performance of critical Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) battery systems. This role offers hands‑on experience with battery startups, certifications, preventative maintenance, and scheduled maintenance, ensuring the continuous operation of essential power infrastructure. The position provides opportunities to learn advanced battery technologies, work in a collaborative environment, and contribute to the success of both internal teams and valued customers.
Responsibilities- Assist with battery replacements and new installations for UPS systems.
- Support preventative and scheduled maintenance of batteries with minimal disruption to customers.
- Maintain a clean and organized job site during all phases of work.
- Follow operational, maintenance, and emergency procedures to ensure safety and compliance.
- Interact professionally with internal teams and external customers.
- Assist in the warehouse and support other service divisions (Switch Gear, Operations, HVAC) as needed.
- Utilize hand tools and general maintenance equipment safely and effectively.
- Work from schematic diagrams, sketches, and verbal instructions.
- Learn and perform battery disconnection and connection in cabinets and open racks.
- Gain experience building battery racks, spill containment systems, and installing batteries in critical spaces.
- Collect and enter test readings and maintenance data using a laptop computer.
- Travel approximately 50% to customer sites as required.
- Demonstrate regular and reliable attendance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Services Management.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of or willingness to learn AC/DC theory, electronic components, and circuitry.
- Experience or training in the use of digital multimeters, amp clamps, and battery testing equipment.
Understanding of isolation devices, arc‑flash PPE, and safe work practices. - Ability to connect battery strings in series, parallel, and series‑parallel configurations.
- Familiarity with torque values, torque‑mark application, and visual inspection of battery installations.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- OSHA 10-hour certification and NFPA‑70E Safety Training (or willingness to obtain).
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
