DRMP's Construction Engineering Inspection (CEI) Division is hiring Transportation Technicians/CEI Inspectors at all levels to join our group around the Raleigh area. This role reports to the field/project and is based in Asheboro, NC.
Position SummaryThe Transportation Technician is responsible for performing highly complex technical assignments in field surveying and construction layout, making and checking engineering computations, inspecting construction work, and conducting field tests.
Primary Responsibilities- Daily documentation of the contractor’s work efforts.
- Project field book preparation and documentation.
- Density log book preparation and documentation.
- Material sampling and testing.
- Assisting with preparation of the Final Estimates package.
- Measures distances to verify the accuracy of dimensions of construction activity/layout.
- Verifies levels, alignment, and elevation of construction activity/installations.
- Observe work in progress to ensure that procedures followed and materials used conform to specifications.
- Obtains and prepares material samples for laboratory testing.
- Examines workmanship of finished installations for conformity to standards and accepts installation.
- Records quantities of materials received or used during specified periods.
- Maintains daily log of construction and inspection activities.
- Receives general instructions regarding assignments, exercises initiative and independent judgment in solving work problems.
- Assists Senior Inspectors and/or Project Administrators with completion of specific tasks and assists in all phases of the construction project.
- Responsible for preparing backup documentation for progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration.
- High school graduate with four (4+) years experience in construction inspection, including at least one (1+) year in roadway or bridge construction inspection.
- AAS in Civil Engineering Technology plus two (2+) years experience, with at least one (1+) year in roadway construction inspection.
- Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving history.
- Completion of the Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self‑Study Course, and submission of the mandatory Certification of Course Completion form (for structures projects).
- Availability to work at least 40 hours a week, with potential overtime (Hourly).
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
