The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses and evaluates the health status of residents and provides care and treatment in accordance with physician orders and standards of practice. Works in a team environment and within scope of practice as defined by State.
Responsibilities & Duties- Assess residents by physical examination, including pertinent diagnostic testing to determine health status.
- Administers medications and treatments as prescribed by a physician.
- Monitors resident's condition and communicates to the physician changes in resident's condition, diagnostic test results, etc.
- Communicate to residents, resident representatives and families about changes in their condition, medication, treatments and care plans.
- Assisting residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), such as helping residents with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, eating and mobility.
- Follow infection control protocols to help prevent the spread of infections.
- Collaborate with other members of the nursing team and members of the interdisciplinary team to develop individualized care plans and oversees implementation.
- Maintain accurate and detailed resident records, documenting assessments, medication administration and other relevant care information in compliance with standards of care and company policy.
- Educates residents and their families on health-related issues.
- Supervises Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), graduate nurses and other nursing staff, as designated by their supervisor, and provides training, guidance and support.
- Understand and adhere to facility policies and procedures.
- Experience working in a healthcare setting, particularly in long-term care
- Ability to perform in a high stress, fast-paced environment
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a Valid State Licensure as an RN
- Current CPR certification
Shift work may be required. Employee is frequently required to stand, sit, bend, stoop, use keyboard, see, talk and hear. May lift medium to heavy objects including assisting with the movement of residents. Employee is occasionally exposed to blood or other body fluids, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
