Our interns are the heart and soul of an amazing fan experience for Zoo Keeper fans here in Asheboro. While learning the many facets of summer baseball, our interns will positively impact the Asheboro community, our unwavering fanbase, our host families, and partners. As an intern, you will develop and take ownership in projects throughout the season and bring them to life with our team of interns and full-time staff!
Job Overview
The Zoo Keepers are looking for an energetic performer to become teams mascot Zeke, for games and community appearances. The performer will meet fans, take pictures, interact with the crowd, perform skits, and work closely with the Zoo Keepers marketing and promotions teams to showcase the team.
Responsibilities
- Engage with guests while in costume, display enthusiasm and high energy always to elevate the experience
- Preserve the identity of the mascot without deviating from established character including body language/mannerisms, attitude, and fan interaction
- Perform during in-game promotion activities and fulfill entertainment and marketing agreements with community partners
- Represent the Zoo Keepers at a wide range of club sponsored community outreach events
- Perform at private parties, parades, festivals, grand openings, etc. as needed
- Responsible for entertaining guest and being involved in various activities and events throughout the summer
- Consistently execute care and maintenance to ensure costume is always in operational, guest-ready, condition
- Ability to be trained and crossed utilized to support other activities as required
- Previous experience as a mascot, dancer or as an actor/actress preferred.
- Must be available to work odd hours including nights and weekends.
- Work well in a team environment
- Ability to communicate non-verbally to interact with the public
- Engaging, animated presence
- Passion for working with kids
- Able to withstand high heat and enclosed spaces for extended periods of time (up to 30 minutes)
To qualify and join this exciting team atmosphere, interns must have at least a 3.0
GPA and submit a letter of recommendation from a current or former professor.
This internship is only available to college-level students, both undergraduate and graduate students, who are looking for a college credit internship. The internship is on-site in Asheboro, NC.
