To be successful in this role the applicant will have basic accounting experience, must maintain accuracy and attention to detail across high-volume financial data, and excellent Microsoft office knowledge.
Pay Range: $21.28 - $22.25/hr Schedule Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm

GENERAL FUNCTION:Under the supervision of the Finance Director and the Accounting Specialist, the associate performs a variety of accounting and financial duties involving financial transactions and recordkeeping. These duties include assisting in the annual budget preparation, the annual certified audit, and the preparation of the annual form 990 and form 990T. The associate maintains the computerized accounting system and provides information same to the Finance Director and the Accounting Specialist and other staff members as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:- Basic accounting experience or education required.
- Strong experience with computerized accounting systems.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent data entry skills.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with Quick Books a plus.
- Exhibits accuracy and attention to detail in all areas of work.
- Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Able to work effectively as part of a team.
- Able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, with minimum supervision.
- Remain focused and diligent in the recording and reconciliation of data from numerous sources.
- Collaborate with a variety of people (staff, management, donors, volunteers, vendors, home-owners, bankers, agencies, etc.) to enhance outcomes both within and outside the Finance Department.
- Be self-motivated; to go beyond the daily accounting tasks and use available skills and interests to support the mission of Asheville Habitat in meaningful ways.
The position operates primarily in a professional office environment and routinely requires operating standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.
The position requires self-transport to local banks, etc. as well as occasional visits to construction job sites where conditions may include inclement weather, heat and humidity, high noise levels, and navigating rough terrain.
Must be able to travel to meetings and events and communicate appropriately with stakeholders.
