Description of Work Are you looking for a job with flexibility that supports work/life balance?

At the North Carolina Division of Disability Determination Services (DDS), there are several aspects that support work/life balance. As our work is generally required to only be completed on the computers in the building, there is no work to take home and no emails to check on weekends or after hours. We also offer some teleworking opportunities.

This position is located at the Division of Disability Determination Services (DDS) at the Department of Health and Human Services in Raleigh, NC. This agency makes medical entitlement decisions on Social Security, Supplemental Security Income and Medicaid disability claims.

The primary purpose of the Office Assistant IV position is to provide clerical support to the Disability Determination Services staff members who are responsible for adjudicating disability applications.

The Office Assistant position requires a higher level of technical skills. Changes in the advances in technology continue to change the complexity of this position. Software updates resulted in the procedural changes in clerical duties such as verifying and approving payment vouchers.

Currently this clerical function is more automated requiring more technical skills. The addition of new scanners has assisted with the updated technology and job performance. Tasks are performed using a dual process, as some files are paper while others are electronic.

This OA is responsible for planning and organizing the tasks so that deadlines are met and accurate and complete information provided to internal and external customers.
