Job Description SummaryInstructor will support transition to employment and post secondary education for 16‑21 year olds with Autism Spectrum Disorder by using the T‑STEP program developed by TEACCH Autism Program at the UNC School of Medicine. Instructor will provide a broad range of personal, academic, and career counseling services related to goal setting, executive function, emotion regulation, and social skills.
Duties- Establish and maintain a coaching relationship with students in designated caseload to provide academic coaching, case management, and college transition services.
- Provide students with academic success strategies which facilitate a successful transition to college‑level courses, foster retention, and promote completion of credentials.
- Provide information regarding specific areas of study, as well as general knowledge of college and program requirements.
- Monitor, document and track student attendance and academic progress.
- Participate in the development and presentation of workshops and other activities focused on transitioning to college and student success.
- Utilize technology to effectively monitor student progression toward credential completion and record student interactions.
- Deliver timely and accurate information to students about resources and services available such as financial aid, disability support, academic services/support, registration assistance, housing, transportation, and personal counseling.
- Work collaboratively with other entities within and without of the college to provide appropriate services to students.
- Contact active and inactive students to assist them with progressing to completion and/or returning to college.
- Experience in communication skills, listening, writing, and speaking.
- Experience working with MS Office products.
- Experience in multi‑tasking, troubleshooting problems, and ability to create resolutions with minimum supervision.
- Teaching experience.
- Experience working with a Community College System.
- Experience with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
$20.00 per contact hour
