Pratt & Whitney is constructing an Advanced Casting Foundry (ACF) within its Asheville, NC factory. We’re looking for an experienced Quality Engineer for this greenfield business.
This position is for a Quality Engineering leadership role within the ACF responsible for ensuring our Control plans meet customer requirements through the entire production lifecycle. They develop quality controls, conduct inspections, perform root cause analysis, and lead continuous improvement initiatives to minimize defects and prevent customer escapes. Works autonomously with limited oversight from manager.
What You Will Do- Develops and implements Quality signature improvement strategies and systemic controls in partnership with the Manufacturing Engineering.
- Leadership role in PRTs and Technical investigations.
- Analyze and present complex data to support quality signature improvements.
- Identify and establish required QMS improvements to support this new internal product line.
- Lead activities to support FAA & AS9100 scope expansion and maintain compliance.
- Solid commercial and financial awareness with a full understanding of how failures impact business financials, customer satisfaction, and future orders.
- Lead Process Improvement opportunities using DMAIC, CORE and Lean Strategies to enhance quality, decrease process cycle time, and reduce operational costs.
- Provide technical expertise of non-conforming material and support the communication and processing of quality notifications through the Material Review Board (MRB) process.
- Define and implement plans to support the objectives of the business including Quality, CORE, and financial metrics.
- Provide effective communication to ensure alignment as a leader within the Quality and ACF organizations.
- Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience.
- Demonstrated product and process improvement experience.
- Knowledgeable / experienced in AS9100 / ISO 9001 Quality systems.
- PW Quality system experience.
- Working knowledge/ proficiency in Quality tools such as FAI, PFMEA, DFMEA, GR&R, GD&T elements, etc.
- Experienced in root cause corrective action and eliminating non-conformances.
- Practical DMAIC, CORE, Six Sigma experience or other Lean Systems experience.
The salary range for this role is 86,800 USD - 165,200 USD.
