Job Summary
Manufacturing Automation Engineer I is responsible for the design, implementation, integration, and support of automated production systems within a high‑volume electronics manufacturing environment. This role is highly hands‑on and focused on supporting day‑to‑day production operations, improving equipment performance, and deploying automation solutions to enhance safety, quality, and throughput.
Shift: Day Shift
Responsibilities- Provide direct support to production lines, resolving equipment and automation issues to minimize downtime.
- Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions (QRQC/8D).
- Troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, robotics, vision systems, and electrical/mechanical subsystems.
- Support shift teams during escalations to ensure rapid recovery of production lines.
- Identify opportunities to improve cycle time, yield, and equipment reliability.
- Analyze process data to drive OEE improvements and eliminate recurring issues.
- Implement poka‑yoke, error‑proofing, and process standardization.
- Support cost reduction initiatives through automation and process redesign.
- Ensure adherence to safety, EHS, and Jabil engineering standards throughout all projects.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including schematics, SOPs, and maintenance procedures.
- Ensure all equipment complies with safety standards (LOTO, guarding, risk assessments).
- Support audits and ensure proper change management practices are followed.
- Follow regional and global automation standards.
- Support NPI, new asset introduction, and continuous improvement.
- Work in a hands‑on, shop‑floor‑focused role.
- Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, or related field.
- 0–2 years of automation engineering experience (internships, projects).
- Experience with automation systems, assembly/test equipment, mechatronics, PLCs, robotics, sensors, motors.
- Basic knowledge of vision systems (AOI/AVI).
- Awareness of material handling interfaces (AMR/AGV).
- Lean manufacturing preferred.
