Eaton's ES AMER ARS PDCAD division is currently seeking a Custom Order Engineer (MVCA 1st Shift). This position is ONSITE Monday-Friday 8:00 am-5:00 pm at our Asheville (Arden) NC Eaton facility.

The Custom Order Engineer (COE) is primarily responsible for providing electrical and mechanical design and documentation support for power distribution or control product lines. This includes, but is not limited to engineering designs, collaborating with application engineers and manufacturing associates, utilization of design automation software, and producing/maintaining manufacturing documentation.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $71,000-$85,000 annually a year.

What you’ll do:
  • A. Consult with plant and field sales engineers in interpreting and defining new equipment applications.
  • B. Develop a variety of complex drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, which provides sufficient detail to accurately convey the purchaser's equipment application.
  • C. Coordinate mechanical and electrical interfaces with other products.
  • D. Advise Drafting/Design, Manufacturing, and Purchasing - when required - in interpreting information for the accurate production of equipment in accordance with the purchaser's requirements.
  • E. Manage purchaser onsite visits to approve and/or release equipment for shipping.
  • F. Manage Manufacturing and Engineering Change Notices.
  • G. Demonstrate advanced computer skills with ability to learn required software (Bid Manager, AutoCAD, Design Automation, MAPICS).
  • H. Consult with Quality in resolving issues after the equipment is shipped, when required.
  • I. Conduct special development/application projects of a complex nature.
  • J. Inform cost and cycle time improvement activities.
  • K. Conduct technical training guidance and seminars, as required.
  • L. Analyze needs and recommend revisions to Department Policies and Procedures.
  • M. Other duties, projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

Basic

REQUIRED Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Minimum of one internship, or co-op experience, or an equivalent of 3 months of related experience (ie: Capstone project)
  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Asheville, NC facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Electrical, Mechanical, or manufacturing Internship/Co-Op experience
  • Knowledge of power distribution products (LV or MV Switchgear, Panel boards and Switchboards, Motor Control Centers, etc.)
  • Experience with PLC or relay programming
  • Experience with AutoCAD
  • Project Management experience
Skills:
  • Strong analytical, computer, writing, presentation and customer service skills
  • Ability to communicate technical information to customers and manufacturing
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical and mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge of design standards
