Civil Engineer

We are seeking a motivated Civil Engineer to join our team focusing on land and site development projects. The ideal candidate will design and oversee grading, drainage, earthwork, and infrastructure improvements for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments. This role combines technical design, project coordination, and on-site problem solving to deliver safe, cost-effective, and regulatory-compliant civil engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare civil engineering designs, plans, and calculations for land development projects including grading, drainage, utilities, and erosion control.
  • Develop site development plans, subdivision plans, and construction documents in accordance with local codes and agency requirements.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses, stormwater management design, and prepare drainage reports and permit submittals.
  • Coordinate with surveyors, architects, geotechnical engineers, contractors, and municipal agencies to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Review and respond to agency comments, attend planning and permitting meetings, and manage permit application processes.
  • Provide construction support including responding to requests for information (RFIs), performing site visits, and reviewing contractor submittals and as-built surveys.
  • Perform quality control and technical review of drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
  • Estimate quantities and prepare cost opinions for earthwork, grading, drainage, and utility work; assist with project scheduling and budgeting.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians, and contribute to continuous improvement of office standards, templates, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field;
    Master's degree preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, or EIT/Engineer-in-Training with progression toward PE.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in land development/site development with demonstrated experience in grading and drainage design.
  • Proficiency with civil engineering software such as Civil 3D, AutoCAD, HydroCAD, HEC-RAS, or similar tools.
  • Strong knowledge of local land development regulations, stormwater management practices, and permitting processes.
  • Experience preparing construction drawings, technical reports, calculations, and permit packages.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, regulators, and construction teams.
  • Ability to perform site visits and field inspections; valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
