📍 Asheville, NC
💰 $18–$19 per hour (based on experience)
🕒 Full‑Time M‑F 8am - 4pm with on‑call requirements

Pyramid Healthcare is seeking a dedicated and experienced Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) Lead to join our team in Asheville, NC. This leadership role supports both clients and staff by ensuring high‑quality care, strong team coordination, and adherence to program policies and treatment standards.

Position Summary

In addition to performing all Behavioral Health Technician duties, the BHT Lead provides day‑to‑day leadership and oversight of BHT staff and client activities during assigned shifts. The Lead BHT ensures staff and clients follow established protocols, communicates critical information across shifts, and reports concerns to the Program Director and leadership team as needed.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
  • Lead and support BHT staff during assigned shifts, ensuring consistent, high‑quality care.
  • Communicate key information to incoming shifts to promote continuity of care and a positive environment.
  • Assist with scheduling and coverage for the BHT team.
  • Support the intake process for new clients entering the program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely client documentation and logs.
  • Observe and document client self‑administration of medications per protocol.
  • Coordinate and supervise client activities and programming.
  • Follow treatment plan objectives and address individual client needs.
  • Provide client transportation as needed.
  • Assess behavioral and emotional needs and respond appropriately, including crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly environment.
  • Assist with client dietary needs and daily living activities.
  • Complete all required trainings and maintain compliance with accreditation and licensing standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provide training, coaching, and daily guidance to Behavioral Health Technicians.
  • Serve as a point of contact for shift staff regarding procedures and client concerns.
Required Qualifications Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Preferred: 2+ years of behavioral health or healthcare experience.
  • CPR, AED, and First Aid certification preferred (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to problem‑solve and make sound decisions in dynamic environments.
  • Ability to manage crisis situations and respond to safety concerns.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Commitment to ethical standards, professionalism, and therapeutic boundaries.
Physical Demands
  • Frequent standing, walking, stair climbing, and use of hands/arms.
  • Occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and twisting.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry up to 25 pounds regularly (up to 50 pounds rarely).
  • Vision requirements include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
  • Primarily indoor clinical and residential settings with moderate noise levels.
  • Local travel may be required; personal transportation must be available.
  • Exposure to infectious diseases and potentially traumatic or psychiatric emergency situations may occur.
