Position: Inn Housekeeping Inspector - Full Time

Overview

The Housekeeping Inspector assists management in supervising employees and inspecting work to ensure that the Inn on Biltmore Estate quality standards are met and exceeded on guest floors. Responsibilities include managing guest room status and standards on a daily basis. Associates will also maintain daily paperwork, assist in training and performance management with staff, and cover duties of the housekeeping uniform attendant, room attendant, and public area as needed.

The incumbent will also provide general support and assistance to the department, leadership, and company.

Weekend Availability Requirement

Weekend availability is a requirement of this position.

Schedule

Schedule can vary, is generally 8am – 5pm.

Job Duties
  • Maintain room cleanliness standards on a daily basis, by generating daily staff room inspections and training associates according to results.
  • Manage and oversee clean and orderly hallways and storage areas.
  • Provide employees with the proper supplies needed to perform their duties.
  • Assist with training and evaluating of staff as assigned.
  • Work cohesively with co‑workers as part of an effective team.
  • Provide final check of guest rooms before guest check‑ins.
  • Hotsos any work orders to be processed for repairs.
  • Conduct and assist with associate disciplinary measures.
  • Supervise staff including proper communications, assuring teamwork, conflict resolution, productivity maintenance, and motivation.
  • Follow through and insure guest requests and satisfaction.
  • Strive to maintain personal, staff and guest safety and security at all times.
  • Perform duties of Housekeeping Services or Room Attendant as requested.
  • Enforce and adhere to proper uniform and grooming standards among employees.
  • Supervise the proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals with the employee's safety always in mind.
  • Dispatch duties to staff through radio, pager and personal communication.
  • Counsel and perform problem‑solving and coaching techniques with staff.
  • Assist and observe on‑the‑job training with new staff members and continue to focus on their development.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise Housekeeping line staff on a daily basis.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities can include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Perform and ensure proper weekly inventory of supplies are maintained.
  • Assist other staff members as needed or requested, to assure exceptional quality and service.
  • Maintain communications between other departments to assure guest requests and room readiness.
  • Maintain confidentiality of guest information and pertinent company information.
  • Perform any other tasks or projects as directed by Housekeeping Management to assure smooth departmental operations.
Qualifications
  • A high school diploma (or GED).
  • A minimum of one (1) year related experience in a similar position in a full‑service, upscale/luxury hotel or resort or other housekeeping environment. The preferred candidate will have two (2) years of experience of related housekeeping experience in a four or five star/diamond hotel.
  • Candidates must have strong interpersonal, communication (written and verbal) and motivational skills. Should have a focus on guest service and quality and inspire staff to do the same.
  • Superior attention to detail.
  • Must be able to handle a variety of guest service situations professionally in a manner consistent with company standards.
