Position Overview

Join the Ramily! The Office of Information Technology (OIT) at Winston‑Salem State University is seeking a knowledgeable and service‑oriented IT Applications Professional to support campus‑wide application training, user support, and enterprise technology engagement.

The Office of Information Technology works to support and strengthen the academic, administrative, and associated research needs of all faculty, staff, and students at Winston‑Salem State University through the provisioning, support, maintenance, availability, and outreach of Information Technology Services. Reporting to Application Administration Services (AAS), this position plays a key role in providing advanced application support, coordinating user training, and promoting digital technology awareness for faculty, staff, and students.

The IT Applications Professional helps the campus community effectively utilize software systems integral to academic and administrative operations.

Core Responsibilities
  • Design and Deliver Technical Training
    • Manage the end‑to‑end training lifecycle, including needs assessment, instructional design, content development, multi‑modal delivery (e.g., classroom, webcast, online), and evaluation to align with organizational goals and compliance requirements.
    • Create instructional materials such as course outlines, job aids, and exercises to enhance learning outcomes.
    • Conduct regular training sessions for employees and students, ensuring high‑quality, consistent content delivery.
    • Ensure training remains relevant and impactful by updating materials based on user feedback, application enhancements, and performance data.
    • Promote a culture of continuous technical learning to strengthen organizational capability and support change initiatives.
  • Application Support, User Enablement, and Project Coordination
    • Provide advanced (Level III) user support by resolving complex software issues, optimizing application performance, and guiding users toward effective software use.
    • Coordinate software implementations, upgrades, and integration projects, serving as a liaison between users, IT teams, and vendors to ensure successful deployment and adoption.
    • Analyze business processes, develop functional specifications, and conduct system testing to validate software solutions.
    • Translate complex technical information into accessible guidance for non‑technical users, supporting confident and independent application use.
  • Manage Internal and External Communications
    • Develop and manage communication strategies across internal and external channels, including websites, social media, newsletters, and internal correspondence, in alignment with university branding.
