JOB DESCRIPTION

Description:

Blue Wave America is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a full-time Regional Field Director for the 2026 election cycle, leading the effort to drive turnout in the rural counties of the Coastal Plains region of North Carolina.

The Regional Field Director will recruit, train, and manage a team of full-time organizers, part-time organizers, and volunteers to hit ambitious voter contact goals. In addition, the Regional Field Director will execute Blue Wave America’s relational organizing and events program. This program will drive daily relational voter contact, relational capacity building, and volunteer-led community events.

The Regional Field Director will report directly to the State Director. This is a hybrid position requiring relocation to the Coastal Plains region of North Carolina. Compensation for this position is $5,000 per month, paid in installments twice monthly in addition to 100% employer-paid premiums for medical, dental, and vision insurance. This full-time, temporary position is based in the Coastal Plains region of North Carolina and ends on November 30, 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Hire, train, and manage a team of Field Organizers and Deputy Field Organizers.
  • Meet aggressive, realistic goals for direct voter contact and volunteer recruitment, and coach and manage volunteers and organizers to hit capacity‑building and voter contact goals.
  • Build a streamlined system for managing phone call, text, and door campaigns, and manage high‑energy, high‑output phone banks, text banks, and canvasses.
  • Manage systems of accountability for staff and volunteers to track progress.
  • Maintain and execute rigorous and efficient volunteer systems, including daily recruitment, onboarding, training, and escalation.
  • Manage a team to build a volunteer base to implement and execute Blue Wave America’s overall relational organizing plan.
  • Set and define goals for a relational organizing program in conjunction with the State Director.
  • Develop relationships with local organizations and individuals in the assigned region to promote the goals of Blue Wave America.
  • Build strong relationships with relational volunteers and volunteer event hosts, have strong 1:1s, and facilitate relational voter contact.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the State Director.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in training, supporting, and managing staff in an electoral or community engagement capacity. Candidates with rural organizing experience are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Proficiency using VAN and other field organizing tools, including predictive dialers, peer‑to‑peer texting platforms, Mobilize, etc.
  • Proven track record of building and maintaining volunteer‑based organizations
  • At least two cycles of political campaign experience as an organizer; at least 1 cycle of management experience of a team of 4+ entry‑level staff preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in community organizing, with a strong preference for candidates who have managed teams or led volunteer‑driven initiatives.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
  • No task is too small; you are a team player willing to roll up your sleeves!
  • Prior budgetary experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable access to a vehicle
  • Ability to work campaign hours, including evenings and weekends, and willing to be flexible with responsibilities over time.
  • Strong commitment to electing Democrats up and down the ballot.

Women, people of color, LGBTQ+ individuals, and individuals with disabilities are strongly encouraged to apply. Studies have shown that folks with these backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they believe they meet every requirement. We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that candidate may come from a less traditional background. We may consider an equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications.

If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role.

Blue Wave America is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, national origin, marital status, sexual orientation, religious affiliation, disability, or any other classification considered discriminatory under applicable law.
