Southern Dharma Retreat Center is seeking a Retreat Center Programs & Communications Manager (P&C Manager) to join our community beginning March 1, 2026. This on-site role is responsible for all aspects of retreat-related logistics, marketing, and communications. The P&C Manager reports directly to the Retreat Center Director (RCD) and collaborates closely with the Executive Director (ED) and retreat center staff.
This position plays a vital role in ensuring seamless retreat operations while maintaining and strengthening Southern Dharma’s communications, outreach, and community engagement efforts.
Key Responsibilities Programs & Retreat Operations (Approximately 75%)- Build strong working relationships with the Retreat Center Director, Executive Director, and retreat center staff
- Supervise Retreat Managers and/or serve as Retreat Manager when needed (selection, training, scheduling, on-call advising)
- Participate in the selection and mentoring of on-site residents and volunteers
- Manage logistics-related communications with teachers and teaching assistants before and after retreats
- Collaborate on retreat planning (on-site and online), including set-up, check-in, orientation, closing announcements, dana processing, and check-out
- Create and manage team schedules to ensure seamless retreat support
- Respond to inquiries and concerns from teachers and retreatants with kindness and compassion; elevate or de‑escalate as needed
- Support online registration and donation platform management
- Assist with retreat-related accounting tasks, including dana collection
- Establish and refine program-related procedures and policies
- Maintain online databases and complete general office tasks
- Support and protect the silent retreat environment
- Participate in daily staff meditation practice
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to write, edit, and distribute monthly newsletters via Mailchimp
- Draft and manage additional email campaigns (e.g., planned giving, renovations, general announcements)
- Manage social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram via Meta Business Suite)
- Design images and promotional materials using Canva Pro
- Post to social media at least once per week, including retreat announcements, registration openings, open spots, new teacher introductions, and community event highlights
- Manage and maintain the Southern Dharma website (Word Press) in collaboration with site management company
- Contribute to blog content and external communications
